Terms & Conditions
The agreement between Cape Wedding Union, the couples who enquire through this directory and the wedding professionals listed on it.
1. Who we are
Cape Wedding Union is a curated directory of modern, inclusive wedding professionals across Cape Town and the Western Cape, operated by Caroline Grewar Storytelling GmbH. We introduce couples to professionals. We do not perform the wedding services ourselves.
2. For couples
Using the directory and sending enquiries is free of charge. When you enquire, your details are shared with the professional you selected so they can reply to you directly.
Any booking, contract, payment terms and cancellation policy are agreed directly between you and the professional. Cape Wedding Union is not a party to that contract and is not liable for the services delivered.
3. Listing on the directory
Listings are by application and invitation only. We review every application for quality and for alignment with our inclusivity pledge, and we may decline or remove a listing at our discretion. Professionals are responsible for the accuracy of their profile, pricing and availability.
There is no listing fee and no subscription. You only pay when you get booked.
4. Commission — 15%
Cape Wedding Union charges a commission of 15% on every successful booking that originates from an enquiry made through this platform.
- A booking counts as successful once the couple and the professional have confirmed the engagement and the couple has paid the professional (in full or in part).
- Commission is calculated on the net service fee agreed with the couple, excluding VAT and excluding pass-through costs such as travel, accommodation and third-party disbursements.
- Commission applies to enquiries that came through Cape Wedding Union, including bookings that are later re-scheduled, and to additional services added to that same wedding.
- Professionals confirm bookings and their value through their dashboard. We invoice commission after the wedding date; invoices are payable within 14 days.
- If a booking is cancelled and no fee is retained by the professional, no commission is due. Where a cancellation fee is retained, commission applies to that retained amount.
Commission rates may change in future. Any change is communicated in advance by email and only applies to enquiries received after the change takes effect.
5. Enquiries and fair dealing
Professionals agree to respond to enquiries promptly and courteously, and not to deliberately route a platform enquiry off-platform in order to avoid commission. Repeated circumvention may result in removal from the directory.
6. Content and intellectual property
Professionals keep ownership of the photographs and text they upload and confirm they hold the rights to use them. By uploading, you grant Cape Wedding Union a non-exclusive licence to display that content on the website and in related promotion of the directory.
7. Data protection
We process personal data only to operate the directory: matching couples with professionals, sending enquiry and account emails, and administering listings. Data is not sold to third parties. Requests for access or deletion can be sent to caroline@brinkhoff.ch.
8. Liability
The directory is provided as-is. Cape Wedding Union is not liable for the performance, conduct or cancellation of any professional or couple, nor for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the platform.
9. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the current version always applies and is published on this page. These terms are governed by Swiss law, with the courts of Zurich competent, except where mandatory consumer protection law provides otherwise.
